Our focus this year will be on personal growth in the area of traditional literacy (reading, writing, viewing, speaking) as well as more complex skills such as applying, analyzing, evaluating, and synthesizing. You will learn to think critically about all your academic studies and will discover many different approaches to successful learning. Literacy is everywhere and Language Arts is a great place to discover new literature, deepen your thinking, and sharpen your writing skills. Additionally, I will work to integrate technology in our literacy studies as that is a key part of the language and processing skills many of you already possess.
Ways to be successful learners in the classroom AND in life:
- Learn to read text carefully, including directions
- Learn to be an active listener
- Learn to ask thoughtful questions - not just because you don't want to read directions!
- Learn take notes to expand your memory
- Learn to analyze & evaluate information so it makes sense to you
- Learn to create products that really show what you know...these products are part of you!
Parents, also feel free to leave a note :)
See you in class!
